The people making claims on global warming are scientists, universities, and other places where the research has been done. This is not something they thought up; they have proof for every aspect of their argument. Their proof includes things like:
The data came from two different spacecraft; the NASA's Nimbus 4 spacecraft, which surveyed the planet with an Infrared Interferometric Spectrometer (IRIS) between April 1970 and January 1971, and the Japanese ADEO satellite, which utilized the Interferometric Monitor of Greenhouse Gases (IMG) instrument, starting in 1996. To ensure that the data were reliable and comparable, the team looked only at readings from the same three-month period of the year (April to June) and adjusted them to eliminate the effects of cloud cover. The findings indicated long-term changes in atmospheric CH4, CO2, ozone (O3) and CFC 11 and 12 concentrations and, consequently, a significant increase in the earth's greenhouse effect.
If the climate changes heating, cooling, water use, and sea level will be affected. In wealthy countries, the average cost would probably be small, although some people and regions might have high costs and others might receive large benefits. In some poor countries, the cost could be very high.
A large or fast change in climate will have a big effect on plants and animals in the natural environment.
Very rapid climate change is unlikely, but could be disastrous, even for wealthy countries.
Many people believe that Global Warming is fake. They think it is just a scam, like the Y2K. They believe scientists and speakers (such as al gore) are using this to make a buck. I can’t say I completely disagree with them, because I do see their point. It seems like a scandal. Another “sky is falling down” trick being played on the world.
It seems like most of the skeptics are the “opinion” population; the consumers. People feel they are being conned. Posting comments like:
“Isn't it true that the global warming scare is really just a hoax perpetrated by environmentalists who want to attract more funding and liberals who want to promote big government?”
“While it is evident that the human right to produce and use energy does not extend to activities that actually endanger the climate of the Earth upon which we all depend, bogus claims about climate dangers should not be used as a justification to further limit the American people’s freedom.”
